12 DAY SAFARI ITINERARY

 

Day 1: Serondela, [Chobe]

 

Flying from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls [Zimbabwe] arriving around mid afternoon.  You will be picked up by road transfer to Kasane [Botswana], where you enter the big game country of Chobe National Park. We will slowly do a game view to the Ihaha campsite.

 

Upon arrival at the Ihaha campsite, we will be following this schedule:

 

Checking in

Showering and dinner

Safety talk around the fire

The professional guide or ranger will explain the details of what to expect on the safari.

 

 

 

Day 2: Serondela [Chobe]

 

Your guide will wake you up at 05:30 am by means of African drum.  Tea and coffee will be ready, together with some other breakfast items, followed by morning game drive until about 10:00 am depending on what you see while in the bush. Brunch will be next, and free time of discovery [siesta] until we meet again at 2:00pm for high tea. Then we do a game drive to the boat station, where you will embark on a cruise for 3 hours on the Chobe River. After our cruise, we do game drive back to camp, followed by freshening up for diner.

 

 

 

Day 3: Savuti [Chobe]

 

Early morning wake up call, followed by tea and coffee and breakfast snack. Then we continue with our learning and discovery game drive. We will be back at 09:30 am for our meals. We start packing and breaking down our tents. We then make our way to Savuti for another camp.

 

Botswana’s baskets are generally acknowledged to be the finest in the world. Basket weaving is important as part of Botswana’s culture. As part of your learning curve, as we drive to Savuti, we will pass through many villages. Along the way, we will stop at one of the villages called Mabele for 45 minutes to do more learning and discovery:

 

How they make the baskets

How they get the colors from different trees

How people in the village live in day to day life

 

Then we proceed to Savuti, Which is our next campsite.  This is a 3 hour drive.  As we arrive, we set up the camp. If time allows, we will do an afternoon game drive, following by freshening up for dinner.

 

 

 

Day 4:  Savuti [Chobe]

 

Wake up call 05:30 am by African drums

Breakfast

Morning safari game drive

Brunch at 10:00 am

Siesta time

High tea, then afternoon game drive

Freshening up for dinner

 

 

 

Day 5 – 7:  Moremi [Okavango Delta]

 

Wake up call 05:30 am by African drums

Breakfast

We do morning Safari game drive, come back around 09:45 am for the meals.

Pack everything after the meals and we proceed to Moremi game reserve in the Okavango Delta for 3 nights. On one of those days we will have a chance to do a Mokoro activity [dug out canoe] in the Okavango delta.

Everything will run as per normal.

 

 

 

Day 7 – 10  Kalahari Desert

 

After a long drive of 4 to 5 hours, we will arrive in the desert. 2 nights we spend in the National Park and 1 night outside the National Park. During this 1 night outside the national park we will have a chance to interact with the Bushmen, [face to face]. The Bushmen will take us on a walk for cultural learning and discovery. Every thing will run as usual.

 

On Day 10, we leave the desert early in the morning to Kasane, which is about a 6 hours drive.  We pass through many villages to the Zimbabwe border, where you will travel in a bus from the border to Victoria Falls.  We will stay at the Amadeus Guest House. This is a place to relax.  The following day, which is day 11, is your chance to do the many activities available in Victoria Falls as well as shopping.

 

The Amadeus Guest House management will offer you the following optional activities.

 

White water rafting

Bungee Jumping

Sedate river cruise

Elephant back safari

Small airplane flight of angels above Victoria Falls

Helicopter above the Victoria Falls

Micro airplane flight over Victoria Falls.

 

 

Day 12 is the day to leave for the airport to fly to South Africa, and connect to your International Flight back home.

 

 

ITINERARY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Private Safari simply means doing a safari trip knowing everyone on board.
